Things are crazy around here. We leave for Maine–all together this time!–on June 23, which is only ten days away. We’ve done tons of work on our house here in Texas and put it on the market. The first day that it was available for showing, we had nine showings, the next day seven, then four more. Today there two showings, and tomorrow there’s already one scheduled. By the evening of the first day of showings we already had a full-price offer, so YAY! And as the weekend went on, things kept getting better.
Now we’re in total “fingers crossed” mode because we’ve accepted a really good offer. We just have to hope that the appraisal comes in where it needs to in order to allow the buyers to get the financing they need. Theoretically the house will close on July 12, which is awesome for us. Eric and I were so excited that we went ahead and booked a house-hunting trip to Maine in three days. We have a list of 16 houses we want to look at, and they’re all over the map–but they’re all within 45 minutes of Eric’s new office. We’ll get back the night before the packers arrive to box everything in the house. Everything gets loaded two days later, and then we’re off!
One fairly major fly in the ointment is my stupid double vision. I’d been seeing double for a while when I was tired, and chalked it up to just eye fatigue from the stupid progressive lenses I’ve been wearing this year. Then it started getting bad when I was driving, and finally I realized that it was happening all the time. So off to the eye doctor. Still don’t know what’s causing it–but it’s gone from none to pretty bad in less than a year, and it’s all in my left eye. The “good” news is that it can be corrected by using a prism in my glasses. The bad news is that the prism will make the left lens a full one and a half centimeters thick! Plus, now I have to switch to regular bifocals. Coke bottles and bifocals in the same trip. Lovely. The other bad news is that the new glasses won’t be ready in time for our trip, so the eye doctor’s solution is for me to wear a patch over my left eye while driving. Eric and I are going to be a matched set–him with a patch on his right eye, and me with a patch on my left. Lovely.
Anyway, time to cook dinner for the munchkins. It’s our first dinner at home in almost a week.
Ta for now!
