I’m thinking that the end of the month is a good time to start on resolutions to post regularly (I almost said “daily,” but I know myself better than that. So since this is supposed to be about fiber, let me start by talking about some of my fiber stuff in progress.
First and foremost is my *very* late scramble exchange project. I admit it…I haven’t even touched it in almost a month. But along with this resolution to post regularly comes a resolution to finish and mail it off to its rightful recipient before the 15th. We’ll see if I can keep that promise. The project itself could be fairly cool–it’s a poncho of sorts, done in chevron stripes with the handspun alternating with brown sheep gray llama blend. Very soft and fuzzy, and if things work out well, it should have a 6-8″ fringe all the way around–which fits in well with the “Knit Fashion” segment I saw on Headline News this morning (Fringe is In, in case you were wondering).
Second is the purple roving I’m spinning…it should have been for a friend’s pregnancy, but she lost the baby very early on, so I’m not sure what it will end up being. But it’s been sitting there staring me in the face for a while, so I figured I’d better spin it up. It’s looking like it will be a worsted weight two-ply, which ought to be plenty flexible for whatever project it turns into.
Third is the silk that’s looking at me. I want to spin it up for the bag exchange. It’s a very delicate shade of pink, and I have seen some amazing beads that would really accent it well. I don’t know if I’ll ply beads into it or what…I enjoyed doing it for the novelty exchange, but it did seem a bit tedious. The bag itself will probably be pretty simple…I think I’ll play with various lace patterns for the strap.
So that’s it for now. We’ll see what happens tomorrow!
