Grumble, Grumble.
We’ve gotten a new firewall installed at work, so now all addresses with “blogspot” in them are blocked. I suppose I could raise a stink and get them unblocked, but how would I justify the connection? “Really, Mr. Network Administrator God, I read blogs for work-related activities.” There aren’t any Public Relations-related blogs out there, are there? If there are, how would I find them?
So an update on what I’ve been doing lately:
I’ve spun roughly 10 skeins of two-ply silk on the charka, all in preparation for the Sheepthrills Silk Scarf exchange. (note to self: must make up and send out rules for exchange ASAP!). I’ve (sort of) finished the felted bag for my MIL…it didn’t turn out quite the way I wanted it to. It has two major “design elements”: first is that it is much wider than I anticipated…almost 14 inches. No biggee. I can sew some cardboard or a dowel or something in the bottom to stiffen it some. But the second “design element” is a bit more challenging. I had switch skeins when I was about 80% of the way through the knitting, and (silly me) thought the skeins were identical. Apparently I must have been seriously stressed out when I spun the second skein, because it is NOT FELTING AT ALL! Well, it’s felting a little bit, but not nearly as much as the first skein did. The good thing is that the new skein picks up right about the place where the flap folds over the top of the bag (like an envelope), so it drapes well. I still need to find a good button for the closure and sew the lining in, but otherwise it’s finished. (Note to Self: be sure to pack and bring finishing supplies in the car on Saturday).
I’ve also been knitting up some quick garter stitch scarves for my brother and his wife (hers is a vertical row scarf, his a horizontal). They’re easy and gratifying, and they are helping me to save some money on Xmas gifts. I wonder how many of these puppies I can knock out before the actual day???
Anita (www.thefiberartist.com) is helping me learn two-color knitting (first stranded knitting…), and I’m working on a “practice” sweater for my son in variegated blues and greens. It’s practice for the fair isle sweater kit my MIL gave me–that’s a project that’s going to take some skill and some *balls*, as I’ve never taken on anything that involved before.
The diamond shawl that I’m knitting for myself is on hold for now–hopefully I’ll be able to pick it up again in the car. I’m bringing it with me as a work in progress.
Well, better get back to document editing. Grr. Hope everything posts ok, since I CAN’T EVEN SEE MY OWN BLOG!!!!
