Here I am! (I was lost, but found myself this morning under a pile of dirty laundry)

I learn so much from reading the other Fiberblogs…especially the more knitting-intensive ones. And now I’m inspired in time for the Sheepthrills lace doily exchange that Angi is putting together. Pretty cool. Now I just have to figure out if I’m talented enough to actually knit and block a circular doily.

I’m into another pair of Regia jacquard socks, and still love the self-patterning, instant gratification feeling. These are for DH Eric, who (bless his heart) had to leave the house this morning at 4:25 am to get to the local tv station for his morning Boy Scout interview. Public Relations work is fun, but the hours truly suck sometimes. But he was home in time to help me get the kids ready for school, so that’s a plus.

We’re taking off tomorrow night to drive to the Eastern Shore to go visit my ‘rents again. I’m still worried about my mother (amazing how some people never learn to take it easy when they’re injured). They’ll be doing another MRI on the 8th, and that’s when they’ll determine whether or not to do surgery to fuse the vertibrae. I’ve never heard anything good about spinal surgery, but if it’s going to stabilize her neck more, than I’m all for it.

The other thing I found under that same pile of dirty laundry was four ounces of rainbow-dyed silk in rich, dark colors. Don’t recall who dyed it off the top of my head, but it was one of the purchases I made from Greencastle in April.

WooHoo–exciting news that the Threadbear crew willl be moving to Columbus. I sense a SBSTT outing in my future!

Back in town with the

Back in town with the kids, and life is settling down again a bit…except that Hannah’s birthday is tomorrow (five. My baby is five years old!), and we’re having a party for her at the house on Saturday. Whew. Keep your fingers crossed that the weather people are right and the sun shines this weekend. 12 four and five year olds inside the house is NOT my idea of fun for an afternoon.

I got stuck at National Friday night for about five hours, and so I FINISHED the socks I’ve been knitting…except for kitchenering the toes…the TSA in their infinite wisdom let me keep my four size 2 DPNs, but confiscated my 1.5″ tapestry needle. Well, _that_ makes sense! Nevermind that the three fountain pens I have in my purse would do far more damage…

Anyway, I got to spin some more cashmere/silk blend last night at the Louisville SBSTT, and got to talk and plan some more for the 3rd Annual COTFUP on July 12. Don’t know what COTFUP is? E-mail me!

WooHoo! Let’s hear it for

WooHoo! Let’s hear it for Tuesday, which is one day closer to FRIDAY!

Of course, part of the reason I’m so desperately looking forward to Friday is that I get to pick the kids up and see my mother. I talked to her this morning and she sounded terrible. She overdid it yesterday, and she is sore, sore, sore…plus she’s working on a cold because of all the damned rain and dampness, which apparently is absolutely no fun when you’ve got a broken nose.

I’m worried about her. She’s always been a superwoman her whole life, able to do anything…she is not coping well with being forced to do nothing. I’m afraid she’s going to try to reach for something or try to pick something up and really do damage to herself. With the instability of her vertibrae, she could kill herself…C2 is apparently the area of the spinal cord that controls pesky things like breathing, not to mention arms, legs and everything below the chin.

Oak Ridge was a blast, even though I stayed up entirely too late for having gotten up at 4:00 am Saturday morning. I couldn’t sleep because I was excited about going. But I picked up and delivered Gayle’s new Blue-eyed white boy (his name is Chevy–doesn’t that fit well?), and managed to get there without getting lost at all. Of course, the instant I arrived with all the furniture it started pouring rain…

And thank god for Audible. Don’t know what I would have done without my book friend to entertain me.

I’m still in the process of heelturning sock #2–I’ve had all of about five minutes to knit, and those were taken up with trying to be sure the new kitten didn’t snag the sock and make a run… Maybe tonight after the Mary Kay makeup party we’re having. Me and three friends with a great woman I met through a local Chamber of Commerce. I don’t wear makeup very often (even though I probably should in a professional sense), but when I met with Tracy a few months ago and explained the trouble I was having with my rosacea, we came up with a mix of MK products that really seem to be doing the trick. For whatever reason, my face is clearer and less red than it ever has been. Maybe it has nothing to do with the various skincare products and more to do with the fact that I’ve been paying attention to things like exfoliating and using sunscreen…but it’s working, and that’s the important thing. Besides, I think it will be fun to drink wine and eat baked brie and play with makeup.

I can knit and spin tomorrow…
