First Entry of a New Year

In which Annie tries desperately to catch her breath…and fails.

Whew. To say that the past few weeks have been a whirlwind would be putting it mildly. Last minute christmas shopping, christmas parties and other celebrations, visits to Kentucky by my MIL and SIL, a visit to Maryland with the kids to see my parents and siblings, and egads–the fact that DH will be leaving in just nine days for Las Vegas…

So I’m sorry I haven’t posted more, but you know how it goes.

Besides, during the week between christmas and New Year’s, while I was at my parents’ and had some time I could have used to post, I struggled with their dial-up connection (that would only connect at 19K) and decided that it just wasn’t worth the frustration. For pete’s sake–even the google homepage took more than two minutes to load.

And one of the more frustrating parts of the last few weeks is that I haven’t really had a whole lot of time to knit, either. I did make an adorable pair of mittens for Hannah based on the Fibertrends Strawberry Hat pattern (cute does not even begin to describe these mittens!) and if I can get my shit together well enough to have the mittens and the camera together in the same place at the same time, I’ll take a picture.

I’m also almost finished with the back for Wobbly Ribs, which is a major accomplishment for me, but which pales in comparison to how Viki is doing (BITCH!). Right now she’s vacationing on Sleeve Island….at least she had the good grace to sound a little guilty that she’d had time to work on it…

BY the way, just on the off chance that anyone out there in Blogland is an expert or knows one on TV, here’s my most pressing question of the week: Is it possible to clean powder-coated aluminum siding? I have white aluminum-wrapped columns on the front of my house, and they look dingy and old. I’d like to clean them to brighten the curb appeal, but have no idea how. Anyone out there got an idea???
