Thanks to the IRS?

Monday, March 28th, 2005

Well, thanks to the money-grubbing tax hogs at the IRS, we have a little insurance now that even if our house doesn’t sell quickly, we’ll still be ok for mortgage payments without killing ourselves. And that’s a good feeling. Of course, it’s a bad feeling that we obviously overpayed our taxes quite a bit. But much, much better than the alternative.

More later, with some pics!

Happy Easter

Friday, March 25th, 2005

DH is home for the weekend, so yes indeedy do, it will be a happy weekend. And when he has to go back, there’ll be plenty of chocolate left over. I’m just sayin’!

One good thing about being an Easter parent is that the Easter Bunny only buys the candy she loves…dove chocolate eggs, cadbury egg truffles, starburst and smuckers jelly beans….ahhhhh

Think I’m going to do Tempting from knitty as the next project–gotta have something I can wear in the desert heat, right? If you know of any thoughts or difficulties with the pattern (are there _ever_ any problems with Knitty patterns?), drop me a note. In the meantime, Enjoy all the hard boiled eggs!

Finished Objects and Fine Reviews

Thursday, March 24th, 2005

First off, mega-congratulations to the YarnHarlot, who just received a glowing review for her new book in the Knitters Review! Read the review here, then pre-order, baby!

Second, and it’s probably not fair for me to say this right now since I have no pics to post (yet!), I FINISHED WOBBLY RIBS!!!! And I love it. I was a little too aggressive in blocking the sleeve cuffs (will wet and reblock….later), but otherwise it is absolutely perfect! I see what my friend Viki means, though, when she suggests that lining the neck with an attached i-cord will help to add some stability to the neck edge. Not that it’s unstable, but there’s a whole lotta stress on just the edge. An i-cord edging will help to spread the load, so to speak.

I’ve also finished two Easter bunnies (one in pink and one in blue) for Hannah and Luke. The pattern is from the Knitters Stash book, and was very easy and user-friendly for a first-time animal knitter.

So what do do next? I have two skeins of kureyon from my Secret Pal that I’m dying to do something with…maybe I’ll cave and knit a small doggy sweater for Perdita-the-chihuahua, since I’ve heard that the Vegas nights can be cool…she’s such a cuddlebug–with her in a sweater, it’s almost like wearing it yourself.

I really want to knit Butterfly, but since my DMIL still has my copy of the book, I’m stuck for a while (unless someone wants to lend me theirs!). I’m also thinking that after seeing all the beautiful Flower Basket shawls out there that it would make an ideal shawl to give to my future sister-in-law to wear at her December wedding to my brother Jesse. Note to self: need to order this pattern. Remember to ask Viki where she ordered it from.

K, all. You probably won’t hear from me until Monday, when I’ll be crying the blues because DH will have left to go back to Vegas. But for now, I’m counting down the hours and minutes (13 hours and 35 minutes) until the CONJUGAL VISIT happens. I’ll get to see DH for the first time in more than nine weeks. You do the math…there’s not enough chocolate in the world. I’m just sayin’!

Ta for now.
