Pics as Pennace

Tuesday, April 19th, 2005

Bless me blog, for I have sinned. It’s been more than a week since my last post.

To make up for this appalling lack on my part, let me give you some pictures!

First, the spinning wheel I have for sale:

Asking price is $300 plus shipping. If you’re interested, please e-mail me at annie.tarbox at gmail dot com.

Next, DD Hannah modelling Luke’s blue bunny (complete with NOSE!)

Do I need to tell you that she wasn’t happy at the time? That face…

Next, a picture of my newly beautified pond and waterfall (in our Kentucky house backyard)

Figures that I wait until six weeks before we move out of the house to really put this thing together. I can’t wait to see what it looks like when all the hostas and bleeding hearts come up and fill out.

Here’s a closeup of the weterfall:

See the fishies?

Finally, a picture of the beautiful Flower Basket Shawl that Viki made for me for my birthday:

Gotta love that Knitpicks yarn!

In which the COTFU is reminded that yes, indeed, she’s still got it

We had a VIP visit Monday afternoon at our training facility from the Gold crew of a nuclear submarine that has a relationship with our area . I haven’t been hit on that hard for a long time…and it wasn’t like the guy had just gotten off the boat, either. Call it pheromones or whatever… I actually gave him the wrong name (the other two guys from our office that were doing the presentation thought I was nuts, but they went along with it). He’s called twice, asking for Stephanie. Sorry, no Stephanie works here. All day today, I’ve been catching shit from the rest of the office (the only thing that circulates faster than coffee among these retired Navy guys I work with is gossip). I walk by, and they all check out my ass again. If it wasn’t me, it would make a really funny chick flick.

Sigh. Good thing I’m headed to Las Vegas this weekend. I haven’t gone without for this long since virginity…more than you wanted to know, I’m sure, but definitely what’s been on my mind lately.

And finally, to the amazing, wonderful, kind person who found my two escaped dogs today, picked them up, and drove them halfway across the county to the Humane Society so that they wouldn’t get smashed by cars on the busy road…Thank you. Thank you for protecting the dumb animals, but thank you even more for saving me from finding mangled bodies on the side of the road on my way home. I’ve made a donation to the Humane society in your honor. It’s the least I can do. If I can, when I can, I will pay it forward. Thank you.

A friend in Oz sent a link to one of the most fascinating articles I’ve read in a long time–about the Unicorn series of tapestries. Here’s the link.
