Notes on a new project

Wednesday, September 28th, 2005

So my brother Tom and his (wonderful!) wife Juli are having a baby in early January, so I’ve decided that a hand-knit sweater is just the thing. I wanted to make something that they could wash easily, but would still be warm. And it had to be unisex–Little Nugget (as they call him/her) will be a gender surprise. And no, I’m not going to get sucked into the color/gender/predetermination discussion–I just wanted something that would be appropriate either way.

I’m making a Baby Cardigan set from the PT Yarns Opal Sock yarn free pattern page. You can get to the pattern here. I’m using Opal’s Rainforest yarn in Chameleon, and even though the stripes are wider than Brazil’s, it’s turning out spectacularly. When I get just a little more into the body of the sweater, I’ll take some pictures.

A friend’s daughter is getting married…and I couldn’t be happier for all of them. Cindy, Andrea–I’m celebrating with you!

And now, I’m going back to knit. Gnite, all!

How I spent my Labor Day Weekend

Not much in the way of knitting, but boy howdy, did we have fun! Hopefully now I’ll be back and posting regularly…and with knitting and pictures and other good stuff.
