Not that I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop or anything, but on Monday I found out a.) that my debit card number (not the card) had been stolen and used to make an $800 purchase at the Walmart Supercenter, and b.) that my Ipod Nano was Kaput. Crappy day, that’s for sure. So my checking account is down $800 while the bank figures out how my card could have been in two places at once (apparently while my card was shopping at Walmart, I was actually shopping at Kmart, 6 miles away). I’ve filed the affadavit of fraud and have the forms I need to fill out a police report if the bank wigs out on me and decides that I’m not a victim of fraud.
Luckily (sort of) whoever took my card number was stupid and used it in an abnormally large transaction. If they’d made a $50 transaction every week to ten days, I might not have ever noticed–DH and I do all our purchasing with debit cards and sometimes it works out to a lot of transactions in a single month. This transaction triggered a fraud alert, which is how I found out about it. It’s the only transaction that was made, so hopefully they’ll be able to track it down pretty easily.
Keep your fingers crossed that the Ipod problem is a warranty-covered issue–I’ve gotten very attached to my freebie Nano, and would hate to have to purchase another MP3 player at this point. Also a full-blown Ipod would be nice…
I tried spinning last night (alpaca on the Louet), only to discover that all the bolts are loose on the Louet. I didn’t feel like trekking downstairs into the garage to find the right-sized wrench, so I started knitting instead. Only 38 plus 14 more rows to go on SIL #1′s Xmas present! And tonight I have Memoirs of a Geisha on DVD, so hopefully I’ll be able to get more done–that is, unless I head up to camp for a conjugal visit with DH. We’ll see. He sounds pretty busy, and I’d rather not have to entertain myself in the little trailer he’s staying in.
OK. Time for another ergo break and a cold drink. Back to the Salt Mines!
