Gotta love the redeye that dumps you in Philly at 6:10 am and makes you wait till 9:30 to actually get where you’re going. Fortunately there’s a Dunkin Donuts in the airport, which makes it almost worth it to be up this early. Almost.
And it doesn’t help that my phone hasn’t switched over to the correct time. It’s laughing at me, telling me it’s only 5:04 am in Vegas.
I’ve got plenty of beach knitting with me (socks and scarves) along with plenty of trashy beach reading. All that, plus the best part–playing with the kids–should make for a very enjoyable week. Now, if the beach has wi-fi, I’ll be all set!
For some reason this morning I woke up and just couldn’t get to sleep again. So now I’m I. The couch watching Robin Meade, with a fresh cup of coffee steaming on the table beside me.
I still have to finish some packing, but I finished the laundry last night and managed to score about 25 books from the library’s bookshop. I triedto pick up mostly beach reading, but I also picked up two books by Deborah Tannen (she’s a linguistics professor at Georgetown who writes about gender differences in conversation) and a paperback copy of Thoreau–always good reading when you’re contemplating spending a great deal of time outside. Now the trick will be to figure out how many I can pack and still have room for my bathing suit and not go over 40 lbs. Which reminds me that I need to doublecheck the fees I’ll have to pay for luggage on USAir.
What are the chances that my flight will be on time and that my bag will arrive with me?
I think I’d better put my swimsuit in my purse.
Anyway, I hope that everyone is doing better today–and that the crappening ends. I’m looking forward to seeing the kids tomorrow. Ta for now!
