090922 – None down, four to go

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

Four big documents to finish this week at work–you’d think I’d stay away from stuff like posting to the blog, right? But after spending the weekend before last camping for Wood Badge and then leaving Monday for Irving, TX for work, I just haven’t been home a whole lot–and that seriously cut into my blogging time.

So I’m going to go back to work (have to be responsible, after all!), but I’ll leave you with this pic of my Buffalo Patrol from Wood Badge weekend 1:

090909 – gotta love the date!

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

So bloggers across America need to post today if for no other reason than the date just looks so frakkin’ cool in two-digit form.

Spent most of the morning with Eric at his office, working on Boy Scout stuff. We’re discovering that I’m learning a whole different level of detail about Scouting that he isn’t able to touch in his daily work. For instance, I’ve now read the Boy Scout Handbook (Centennial Edition!), the Scoutmaster’s Handbook, the Patrol Leader’s Handbook, and the Senior Patrol Leader’s Handbook. I’ve read all the Boy Scout leader training materials, all the National Camp School camp administration materials, and a whole host of other Boy Scout publications and training materials that he just hasn’t had the opportunity to enjoy.

This job is also letting me read some fairly interesting leadership books, which has been a little bit like doing a “make your own” MBA program at home (only without the accounting). No, I take that back. There’s accounting, too. Never thought I’d be developing program budgets and operating budgets. But that’s what I’m doing.

I’m nearly finished with the Lavalette (which reminds me–I need to send a contribution to the Alzheimers Research Foundation–no pun intended!). It’s great TV knitting, and I love how it’s looking in KnitPicks Shine.

And so I leave you with some pictures of happy children at the beach (they are not so happy about doing their homework!)

What a ride!

090908 – Surfin’ USA

Sunday at Half Moon Bay was a total blast. I took a ton of pics, but in the interests of bandwidth (and protecting Eric’s secret), I’ll only share two.

Based on Thursday’s adventures with CA DMV, I’ve now been “friended” by Governor Schwarzenegger and the CA_DMV, who want me to send them my contact info. Except that they didn’t direct message me in Twitter–they replied, which means that I missed their request until the end of the day today. Here’s hoping they contact me tomorrow, because I still have no clue what documentation they want me (or BMW Motorrad) to produce to prove that Eric’s bike meets 50-state emissions compliance.

Yay!
